VATNASKIL
Vatnaskil is a private Icelandic SME with over 40 years of experience servicing the renewable energy, resource management, urban planning, climate change and environmental sectors. The firm provides specialized consultation in the development, management, and protection of a wide range of natural resources, including coastal areas. Vatnaskil’s vast experience in characterizing and modelling coastal processes and expertise in utilizing global datasets will be put to full use in the project. The main tasks performed by Vatnaskil are site characterization of two study areas in the Netherlands and development of a state-of-the-art methodology for applying COAST in areas with limited measurement data.
Eric M. Myer, M.SC.
Project coordinator, technical support
Mr. Myer is a hydrogeologist and specialist in climate change mitigation and coastal modelling, with over 25 years of professional experience. He serves as contact point for Vatnaskil and will oversee project coordination and dissemination. He will also provide technical support on project tasks relating to physical site characterization and data synthesis.
Sveinn Óli Pálmarsson, Ph.D.
Project manager, technical support
Dr. Pálmarsson is an environmental and water resources engineer and specialist in climate change mitigation and coastal engineering, with over 25 years of experience in research and consultation. He serves as project manager for Vatnaskil, and will also provide technical support pertaining to the development of a methodology for utilizing alternative datasets and sensitivity analysis design.
Hjalti Sigurjónsson, M.SC.
Technical services
Mr. Sigurjónsson is a geophysicist and specialist in database management, scientific programming and global database utilization, with nearly 25 years of experience in research and consultation. He will provide technical services relating to data processing and analysis, database construction and management and programming.
Darri Kristmundsson, M.SC.
Technical services
Mr. Kristmundsson is an aerothermodynamics engineer and specialist in CFD modelling and data analysis with over 10 years of professional experience. He will provide technical services to the project including data processing and analysis, development and implementation of methodology for utilizing alternative datasets and sensitivity analysis design.
Jean-Claude Berthet, Ph.D.
Technical services
Dr. Berthet is a physicist with over 20 years of experience in research and consultation. He will provide services relating to development and construction of numerical sensitivity analysis methods, programming and synthesis and implementation of large datasets for data gap and sensitivity analysis.
Leo van Rijn, Ph.D.
Sub-contractor – technical services
Vatnaskil will sub-contract the professional services of Dr. van Rijn, an independent consultant with over 40 years of experience in solving sediment problems around the world. His contribution to the project is providing expertise in data analysis and site characterization along with sedimentation modeling and site comparative analysis.
